Meet Mary Ellen

Mary Ellen Solon, LCSW /LICSW, is a compassionate and dedicated licensed clinical social worker with over 14 years of experience in the mental health field. She earned her Master of Social Welfare degree from The University of California, Berkeley, where she developed a deep commitment to helping individuals and communities navigate their emotional and psychological journeys.
Mary Ellen has worked in varied settings, including community mental health clinics, secondary schools, and private practice. These experiences have equipped her with a nuanced skill set, allowing her to tailor her therapeutic approach to her clients’ unique needs. Mary Ellen is a Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist and underwent training in the Gottman Method for couples therapy. She specializes in anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, and addiction, and is skilled in providing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy; Cognitive Processing Therapy; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy; and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Above all else, Mary Ellen provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals and couples to explore their feelings and foster personal growth.
Mary Ellen’s empathetic nature and active listening skills ensure that clients feel heard and validated, and her strengths-based approach empowers them to make positive changes in their lives. In addition to her psychotherapy practice, Mary Ellen is a Certified Yoga Teacher ( CYT-200), Reiki practitioner, and board-approved LCSW supervisor.
Mary Ellen recently serves as the Program Director for the Women’s Justice Team, a substance use treatment and mental health outpatient clinic serving women and gender-diverse individuals at risk of entanglement with the criminal legal system. In this role, she created a five-module course about addiction recovery that is currently taught in five county jails in OK, and strengthened services for individuals experiencing intimate partner violence and disordered substance use.
Outside of her clinical work, Mary Ellen is committed to community healing. She is a member of the Oklahoma Coalition Against Trafficking and serves as a committee member for the Tulsa Mayor's Commission on Domestic Violence. Her passion for advocacy demonstrates her belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to heal and thrive.
In her free time, Mary Ellen enjoys spending time with her family, exploring nature, and reading. She believes in the importance of self-care and strives to model a balanced lifestyle for her clients. Through her unwavering dedication and genuine warmth, Mary Ellen Solon has made a lasting impact on the lives of many individuals, guiding them on their journey toward healing and fulfillment.
